In addition to its role as independent thought leader on cyber security, IAAC has sought, where appropriate, to ally its work to the aims and objectives of the UK Cyber Security Strategy. A particular emphasis has been given to Objective 4 of the Strategy, which centres on skills, with activities building on the 2013 internship pilot scheme and revitalisation of the Academic Liaison Panel over the ensuing period.
2015 saw the UK general election which brought a hiatus to UK policy thinking, and which has since seen the migration of significant elements of IA activity from BIS to DCMS. This was swiftly followed by preparations for the Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR), with IAAC instigating at short notice a workshop to enable the IAAC community to input directly into that process.
